7th October 2015- Creating the home page and the introduction page

According to today's task, I was supposed to work on the home page and the introduction and finish it. I started with the the home page first since I want to go in the correct order of the website and have the same experience as the visitor of the website. Creating the home page involved removing some unnecessary parts of the template, writing the title and the main quote, changing the background image and writing a brief 'welcome' paragraph. Removing the unnecessary parts, writing the title and the main catchy quote was quite simple. I already had the 'catchy' fact ready when I had prepared the document earlier. However, I faced quite a lot of challenges when it came to changing the background image and the main quote. One of the most major challenges was the lack of contrast between the main quote text and the background color. The colors were merging into each other, so reading it would be quite difficult. After a lot of trials, I was able to overcome this challenge by adding a white shadow to the text. Although, it is not perfect, the strain on the eyes is much less. Creating the introduction page was quite simple because, I just had to paste the information from the document. In this page, I explained what the problem is, and revealed the fact that it is neglected by many parents. I also briefly mentioned the effects on Nocturnal Enuresis on the teen. In general, this was like a thesis which would give a brief introduction about the contents of the website. I did not face any challenges while creating this page. 6th October 2015- Dividing the website into different pages

Today I did quite a lot of significant work on my website. According to today's task, I was supposed to divide the website into different pages according to various subtopics, I had already decided on my sub-topics during the planning stage. Therefore, I just had to log in, choose the template, save it and create the pages. I managed to finish doing all this within 1 hour. The different pages of my website include: 

1.        Home page
2. -          Introduction
3. -          Why does Nocturnal Enuresis occur?
4. -          Sharing some stories with you
5. -          What does your teen goes through?
6. -          Possible natural remedies
7. -          You are not alone (emotional support)
8. -          Contact us and comments

Although I had used wix before, I was quite unfamiliar with some of the options since the website builder has been upgraded since I last used it. Therefore, I faced quite a few challenge while doing this task. Firstly, I was not aware of how to create new pages. 3 pages had already been creating with the template. However, I needed to add more. Nonetheless, I was able to overcome this problem by researching on how to add more pages on wix. I also spoke to my peers who are/were using the website builder. Through this, I was able to improve my research skills and my communication. I was also quite disappointed. when I was saving my work, I did not have the option to customize the URL as I wish. Therefore, the link of my website has been finalized as www.rishikagokhale.wix.com/Nocturnal-Enuresis. I did not want my name to be part of the URL, but I do not have an option, unless I pay and upgrade to premium accounts. Nonetheless I tried not to worry too much about this, since the aim of my website is to raise awareness, not to have a customized URL. 

I learnt that in order to add pages, I need to click on the pages button on the left

After doing so, I would get a variety of options as to which type of page I want. However, I can change the type later too.

4th October 2015- Logging into www.wix.com and choosing the best background/layout

Today's task was quite easy since I just had to choose a design/ background theme for my website. It was an easy task because I just needed to refer to the chosen design in Criterion B and the developed design specifications. When visiting the website builder, I already knew which design I would choose since I had already eyed one when I had visited wix.com earlier. However, while doing so, I did face quite a few challenges. When I was trying to sign in, I had forgotten my password. Therefore, it was not allowing me to sign in. However, eventually, I managed to, by going through the long procedure wherein I have to register that I have forgotten my Passover. This waste quite a lot of time, and put me behind the intended time schedule. Another challenge I faced was, finding the template that I had eyed. Although, I already knew the template I would choose, I did not know how to find it between the 1000 other templates that wix offers. Thus, I had to scroll through the entire list, for about 5 minutes, before I found the one I needed. Other than this, everything else went on smoothly and I had quite happy with my choice of the template since it follows the design chosen and the design specifications. 2nd &3rd October 2015- Collecting all the necessary information for the creation of my website

During these two days, I had a very productive sessions, and was successfully able to complete the task. During the two days, I had to do a completely detailed research about Nocturnal Enuresis, why it occurs, the treatments etc. Basically, I had to gather all the required information to be included in my website. Doing this would make the website making process much more organized and easier because I just have to copy and paste information from the document where I have done my detailed research. While doing the task, I managed my time effectively by dividing the sub-topics for two days. Since I had 6 sub-topics, I divided them to make sure I did 3 sub topics per day. This helped me improve my organization and time-management skills. I also had to interview my client, since I have to include her interview and opinions in my website. This helped me improve my collaboration and communication skills. Overall, I am happy with the way I conducted my research and have finished the assigned task. I did not face any major challenges while completing this task, except for the fact that finding an appropriate time for my client and I for the interview was difficult since she is a very busy person. However, I managed to meet her and conduct my interview. Below are the screenshots which show the progress while doing this task:

30th September 2015- Collecting all the necessary pictures for the website creation process

Today I spent around 1 and half hours to brainstorm on all the contents of my website so that the picture selection process will become easier. If I knew all the contents and the topics that I will discuss in my website, I will get a better idea of the different pictures I will need to collect. After doing so, I googled all the pictures and was able to save them onto my desktop without any major difficulties. I also had to refer to my specification so that I knew the minimum amount of pictures I need for my website, which was 5. Therefore, I had to make sure I get more than 5 pictures. I also made sure I got extra pictures that pass the same message so that depending on the information I put in my website, I can choose from the variety that I collected. Therefore, I got at least 2 pictures that show the same subject, just to be on the safer side. One the major challenges that I faced was to make a judgement for the most appropriate picture. Since there is such a wide variety on the internet, I found it quite difficult to decide on the best one. Additionally, my internet connection was also quite slow which slowed down the entire process, making it very difficult for me to work smoothly. Other than that, I had a good time collecting picture for my website and this will surely help make the process of making the website much more organized and smooth.
